February 2011 - Technology and Traveling

Times have changed. In the old days you would pack your clothes, your camera, lots of film and some spare batteries. And you were ready to go.

Technology has really complicated the modern process. Here is a brief list of the new packing list:

  • Clothes (still need those)
  • Digital still camera
  • Digital video camera
  • iPhone/iPod/iPad
  • Laptop

At first glance, this does not seem to horrendous. But lets take a more detailed look:

  • Digital Still Camera (assume it is not a DSLR with all of its extra addons)
    • Camera
    • camera bag
    • spare batteries
    • battery charger (if they are rechargeable)
    • memory cards
    • data cable
