BRMUGMeeting Notes February 2011 - Technology and Traveling
Times have changed. In the old days you would pack your clothes, your camera, lots of film and some spare batteries. And you were ready to go.
Technology has really complicated the modern process. Here is a brief list of the new packing list:
- Clothes (still need those)
- Digital still camera
- Digital video camera
- iPhone/iPod/iPad
- Laptop
At first glance, this does not seem to horrendous. But lets take a more detailed look:
- Clothes -- outside of scope
- Digital Still Camera (assume it is not a DSLR with all of its extra addons)
- Camera

- spare batteries
- battery charger (if they are rechargeable)
- memory cards
- data cable
- card reader
- mini tripod
Not to bad, so far.

Getting a little more cumbersome -- maybe just use video feature of Digital Still Camera

- Laptop bag (backpack much better choice)

- ziploc bags (various sizes)
- random coins (in a pill bottle)
- pencils/pens
- notepad
- photocopy of passport (if leaving country)
